A Memorial Service for Timothy Allen Davis will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2013 at Gillette Memorial Chapel in Gillette, Wyoming with Erik Bergquist officiating.Timothy Allen Davis, 71, died October 8, 2013 at his Gillette, Wyoming home. A Wyoming native, he was born to Alva and Lola Davis on January 17, 1942 along the North Platte River on the Wyoming/Nebraska border near Henry, Nebraska. After graduating from Torrington High School he attended the University of Wyoming, receiving a bachelor's degree in education in 1964. He returned to achieve a master's degree in math and science in 1969. While attending college, he married Karen Carlson in 1963. He later married Linda Reed in 1968. Tim was proud of his 20 years of military service, reaching the rank of Captain. He was an Air Force navigator for the Wyoming National Air Guard, served in Vietnam, and also served in the Wyoming Army National Guard. He taught math and science at the Eastern Wyoming Community College in Torrington and at junior high and high schools in Alva, Torrington and Gillette. In 1978 he entered the construction field and in 1981 became a building contractor. In his retirement years he pursued his favorite hobby, creative writing. He wrote continuously, creating poetry, short stories and novels.He had a passion for family, politics and football. He delighted in watching the antics of his grandchildren, argued politics with anyone who would take him on, and rarely missed Denver Broncos or Wyoming Cowboys games. His friends and family were frequently amused by his wry sense of humor and delivery of witty remarks and puns. Survivors include the love of his life and wife of 45 years, Linda; his children Terri (Doug) Lesley, Ruby Rector, Sandra (Sean) Cowley; his grandchildren Jessica (Jared) Johnson, Jennifer (Brad) Hunter, Tyler Lesley, Ethan Rector, Trevor Davis, Megan Davis, Brandon Cowley, and Katelyn Cowley; four great grandchildren; his brother Mike Davis; his sister Mary Davis; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends; and his cat Sunshine. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Gary, Tom, and Sam Davis.A memorial has been established in Mr. Davis's name to benefit the Vietnam Vets Legacy Scholarship through the Gillette College Foundation.
