Richard Emerson Chesmore, age 79, of Gillette, Wyoming, died Thursday, September 26, 2013 at his home. Richard was born on February 4, 1934 to Clifford Emerson and Olive Opal Chesmore in Mobridge, South Dakota. He joined the U.S. Army with his older brother in 1952 at the age of 17. They served in Korea and he was honorably discharged with a ranking of Corporal in 1955. He married Sylvia Louise Johnson on June 22, 1958 in Mobridge, South Dakota where they made their home for 4 years. After they were married, he worked a short time for Mobridge Concrete Company. In 1962, he went to work for Peter Kiewet & Sons as a Concrete Foreman, building bridges and interstates in Idaho, Montana, South Dakota and Wyoming. He began working for Amax Coal Belle Ayr Mine in 1977 as Plant Foreman. He retired in 1994, but continued working contract maintenance for both Belle Ayr and Eagle Butte Mines until April of 2012. Together Richard and Sylvia had five children, Rick, Randy, Kim, Rob and Ron. He enjoyed attending his children's sporting events, spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, camping, reading, trapping minnows, watching Fox news and sharing stories with all of his cronies at the local coffee shops. His biggest passion of all was going to the lake to spend a wonderful day fishing, teaching others the fine art of fishing and telling anyone that would love to listen about his personal techniques in catching fish. Some would say he never knew a stranger. When we reflect on his life we see a life built on relationships with so many people. He laughed often, he had the affection of his wife, his children and his grandchildren, and he showed his emotion and love for others with his actions. He asked for nothing as he earned everything, and through his actions he was admired by so many and dearly loved by his family. He is survived by his wife Sylvia; sister Ardith of Lewisburg, TN; his sons Rick (Kristen) Chesmore of Bellevue, Washington; Randy (Callie) Chesmore of Gillette, WY; Rob (Katie) Chesmore of Denver, CO; Ron (Patrice) Chesmore of Lander, WY, daughter Kim (Carl) Suhr of Gillette, WY; grandchildren Tara (Kellen) Gatlin; Zachary (Ashley) Ryan; Amanda (Ash) Hodge; Ryan Suhr; Emma Chesmore; Laura Chesmore; Dan Chesmore; Grace Chesmore; Louis Chesmore; Riley Chesmore; Teaghan Chesmore; great-grand children Aidan & Jackson Gatlin; Bentley Owen and Kaylee Hodge and numerous nieces and nephews.
