Memorial services for Albert Earl Stone, 85, of Gillette will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at Walker Funeral Home with a luncheon to follow at the American Legion. Visitation will be Monday, September 2, 2013 from 5p.m. to 7p.m. at Walker Funeral Home. He died Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle due to a longterm illness.Earl was born January 16, 1928 to Clifford & Bessie Stone in Baltimore, MD. They traveled & lived along the East coast for the duration of his childhood.In 1945, at 17 years of age, he enlisted in the Marine Corps. His service included World War II, Korea, & Vietnam. He was a man of few words when it came to talking about his service but felt it was an honor to serve and defend as a United States Marine.He married Bess Powell and together they had two sons, Patrick Stone & Brian Stone. The couple later divorced.After his retirement he moved to Gillette, WY in 1976 where he went to work for his brother, Harold, in the oil fields. In 1980 he met Kay Stone and they were married a year later in 1981.Earl had a special love for anything with four tires and an engine, but the love of his life was his grandchildren. With this love he gave each of them a special memory of their beloved grandpa. His enjoyments in life included driving cars for Great Western Auto Brokers earning his rank as "The General". He was an avid pilot until he ended his flying career in a swamp outside of Spearfish. He loved riding his motorcycle with a passenger in the side cart, and driving lessons for his underage grandchildren around Collins Heights Subdivision. While he was still able, he was an avid participant in Gillette Masonic Lodge, Gillette Shrine Club, Order of the Jesters, and the American Legion Club.He is survived by his wife, Kay of 32 years; sons, Brian (Jeanie) Stone of Trenton Georgia, Patrick (Eileen) Stone of Rising Fawn, GA; stepsons, Charles (Gwen) Andrews of Gillette, Jim (Susie) Andrews of Gillette, Brad Andrews of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Jade Stone, Haley (Shaun) Underhill, P.J. (Caitlin) Stone James Stone, Amanda (Chris) Pasek, Ken Andrews, Michael Andrews, David Andrews, Chris Andrews, Pat Andrews, Dillon Andrews, Ryan Andrews; & 4 great grandchildren.He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, & one sister.A memorial has been established to benefit Wounded Warriors, donations may be made at www.woundedwarriorproject.org .
