Beverly Thornton

Funeral services for Bev Thornton, age 71, of Gillette will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2013 at Family Life Church, with Erik Bergquist officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-11 prior to the service at the church.Beverly Thornton, age 71, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the Rapid city Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SDBeverly June Thornton was born June 16, 1941 in Stockton, California the daughter of Olan D. and Erna E. (Rieger) Curry. Bev grew up in Lodi, California graduating from Sequoia High School in Redwood City, California, after graduating she began working for Bank of America in San Jose, California. On August 16, 1959 she married Roderick Thornton they later divorced. The couple moved to Gillette in 1971 and Bev started her own business, Gillette Secretarial Service, managing many home owners associations in Gillette.Bev was a member of the Moose, Elks, Eagles, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 42. She spent many years with the CCMH ladies auxiliary. Bev enjoyed making crafts and ceramics, crocheting, and spending time with her friends, family and her pets. Bev is survived by her dear companion Dave Stapp of Gillette Wyoming; son, Richard Thornton of California; daughter, Cindy (Bob) Bren of Gillette, Wyoming; brother, Tom (Mary) Curry of Gillette, Wyoming; grandchildren Michelle (Mark) Martin and Brandon (Melissa) Thornton; great grandchildren Genevieve, Annika, Lilli'n, and Sophia Martin, Kendra Thornton and Joey Evans. She is preceded in death by her parents, great grandson Spencer Braxton Thornton. A memorial has been established to benefit Close to Home Hospice, Friends of Gillette Animal Shelter or CCMH Oncology Cancer Center.
