Mae Louise Ross

Memorial service for Mae Louise Ross will be at 2:00p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 1500 O'hara Drive, Gillette WY, with Bishop Clark Melinkovich officiating.Mae Ross, age 78, of Gillette, Wyoming died of natural causes Monday, May 6 at her home.Mae was born June 1, 1934 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado the daughter of Gilbert and Jessie (Dowler) Jackson. She graduated High school in 1952 and spent many years cooking at a small restaurant in Leadville, CO. On July 29, 1980 she married Richard DeWayne Ross and together the couple moved to Gillette, Wyoming in April of 1996.Mae was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ and the Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed hunting and fishing and anything outdoors. She enjoyed having the missionaries come to visit and loved having DeWayne read the bible to her off of the computer as well as driving him nuts by constantly switching through the TV channels. Mae loved all her children so much, even when she couldn't say it.Mae is survived by her husband Richard DeWayne Ross of Gillette, WY; sons: Robert Benson of Illinois; Clifford Benson of Iowa; Tom Ross of Nevada; daughters: Karen Jenkins of Colorado; Cathy Bennett of Gillette, Wyoming; Pennie Hooper of Worland, Wyoming; Cindy King of Colorado; Holly Quarto of Alaska; Jeannene Murphy of California; brothers: Jim, Joe, Jack and Duane Jackson; sister: Erma Couraud Jackson; as well as by twenty-two grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her first husband Robert Benson, her parents and grandparents, sister: Peggy; and brothers Charlie, Buddy, Dick, David, and Don.A memorial has been established in Mae's name to benefit the Friends of Gillette Animal Shelter.
