Memorial service for Rodney K. Cody will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013 at the American Legion Hall, Gillette, Wyoming with Pastor Ernie Bishop of the Church of Christ officiating. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post #42.Rod Cody, age 61, of Gillette, Wyoming died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at his home in Gillette.Rod was born April 29, 1951 in Vancouver, Washington, the son of Dean Cody and Julie Hegbloom. As a young boy his family moved to Idaho where Rod graduated from Wallace High School in Wallace, Idaho. After high school Rod joined the United State Marine Corps. After receiving his Honorable Discharge from the military he moved to Tooele, Utah where he met the love of his life Cathy Luper. They married on December 27, 1980 in Las Vegas, Nevada and together the couple had three children. They moved around from Utah to New Mexico before settling in Gillette, Wyoming in 1998. Rod was a well educated man who held several degrees including a masters degree in safety. At the time of his passing Rod was employed by Big Horn Tire as the Heath, Safety, Security and Environmental Manager. He had also started his own business in January of 2000 called National CRS Safety Solutions. He continued to run his business until the day of his passing.Rod was a member of many organizations and was a NSC First Aid Instructor. He loved to spend time with his five grandchildren as often as he could. He also loved taking his wife, who he considered his best friend, for long rides on their Harley. In his spare time he spent hours tinkering in his shop. He enjoyed building and rebuilding anything he could get his hands on.Rod is survived by his wife: Cathy Cody, sons: KC Cody and Justin (Kayleigh) Cody, and daughter: Jessica (Nick) Wright; grandchildren: Logan and Alyza Wright, Braylan, Grayson and Alivia Cody all of Gillette, WY; his father: Dean (Gladys) Cody of Hayden Lake, ID; mother: Julie (Jerry) Hegbloom of Mullan, ID; and by sisters: Judy (Grant) Wilson of Lemoore, CA; and Jacque Cleland of Butte, MT.Memorials to benefit "The American Red Cross" and condolences may be sent in Rod's name in care of Walker Funeral Home, 410 Medical Arts Court, Gillette, Wyoming 82716.
