Funeral services for Shelley D. Hayden will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 27, 2012 at New Life Wesleyan Church with Pastor Wes Smith, Pastor Issac Smith and Pastor Billy Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00-6:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Gillette Memorial Chapel.Shelley Denise Hayden (Handrick), age 58, of Gillette, Wyoming died from cancer on Friday, December 21, 2012 at her home. Shelley was born on June 9, 1954, in Oakland, California. Growing up, she lived in Farmington, New Mexico, Miles City, Montana, and eventually made her way with her family to Gillette, Wyoming where she graduated from Campbell County High School in 1972. After graduating, Shelley married her high school sweetheart Randy Hayden on April 21, 1972 and moved away to Laramie, Wyoming. That fall, their daughter was born. Shelley was a very dedicated daughter, sister, mother and friend, putting her entire heart and soul into her daily life and relationships. She was a wonderful stay at home mom and a fabulous homemaker; she was involved in her daughter's life and activities and was a wonderful support to the children throughout our community. She was a wonderful grandmother (aka Granny) snagging kisses and hugs every time she got the chance and will forever be remembered by them for the quality time she spent with them just hanging out, playing games or doing crafts. In her free time, Shelley enjoyed reading, furniture refinishing, bowling, sewing/quilting, baking, gardening, spending time with her family and friends and being an active member of the Savageton Homebuilders Club. She has always been an active member of her church and community; helping others, teaching Sunday school, helping with 4H and the Campbell County Fair, volunteering at the Cancer Information Center of CCMH for many years. Shelley was also an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for CCMH Emergency Services of CCMH and worked in the Campbell County Fair Office for many years where she met and helped many wonderful people. She will always be remembered for her bright smile that lit up every room she entered, her contagious laughter that made everyone smile, her fabulous sense of fashion/style and love of bright colors (especially fluorescent green) and animal print. Shelley is survived by her husband of 40 years, Randy Hayden of Gillette, Wyoming; daughter, Celeste (Jeff) Robinson of Gillette, Wyoming; her parents, Velva and Bob Hicks of Gillette, Wyoming; her brother, Alan (Mary) Handrick of Rock Springs, Wyoming; her sister, Tami (Jeff) Beckham of Gillette, Wyoming; her granddaughters: Ali Robinson, Sydney Robinson and Hayden Robinson and her nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Eugene Handrick and her paternal and maternal grandparents.Memorials are suggested in Shelly's name to benefit Hospice of Campbell County or the Savageton Homebuilders.
