Funeral services for Gerald W. Jones will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 28, 2012 at Gillette Memorial Chapel with Pastor Martin Crump of Family Life Church officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.Gerald Jones, age 91, of Gillette, Wyoming died on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Close To Home Hospice House of natural causes.Gerald Wayne Jones was born on July 12, 1921 the son of Hugh Hughes and Jessie (Wood) Jones on the family farm in Reading, Kansas. He attended the Beaver Creek School and graduated from Reading High School. Gerald married Mabel Pauline Speed on March 7, 1946 and they farmed for a few years. They moved into Emporia, Kansas, and was on the police force. In 1962, they moved to Gillette, Wyoming to work in the oil field. Gerald eventually set up Jones Construction and Supply, building tanks and doing roustabout work in several states. He built a trailer park to help his employees find housing when the supply was short. After retiring from the oil field business, he ran Jo's Second Hand Shop. In Emporia, he was active with the Boy Scouts, helping sponsor an Explorer post. Gerald was always active in the churches where he lived, teaching Sunday school, helping with youth groups, serving on the board, and singing in the choir. He was a member of the Gillette First Church of the Nazarene in Gillette. Gerald is survived by his children: Judith England of Gillette, Wyoming, Janice Yarnell of Casper, Wyoming, Joanne (J.J.) Jewett of Benton City, Washington and Lawrence (Cym) Jones of Spearfish, South Dakota; 13 grandchildren: Darla (JD) Jones of Gillette, Wyoming, Laura (Gregory) Crowe, of Gillette, Wyoming, Priscilla (Joshua) Knight of Gillette, Wyoming, Wayne (Heidi) Yarnell of Livingston, Montana, William (DaNae) Yarnell of Wamego, Kansas, Jennifer (Bryce) Bowman of Gillette, Wyoming, Paula Bearley of Corning, Arkansas, Theresa (Jeffery) Tow of Kennewick, Washington, Michelle Carver of Gillette, Wyoming, Michael (Jovan Lewis) Carver of Gillette, Wyoming, Shea Jones of Spearfish, South Dakota, Crystal (Matt) O'Bryan of Wright, Wyoming and Ian (Star) Jones of Cheyenne, Wyoming; 32 great grandchildren: Kayla England, Matthew, Joseph & Abigail Crowe, James, Quinten and Masen Knight, Angel, Kenzie & Zendara Yarnell, Charleigh & Sophia Yarnell, Taylor & Meredith Bowman, Jordene Carver, Casey & Kiersten Bearley, Devon Bearley, Ashlee White, Amanda, Yzabelle, Jase & Taz Tow, Stephen & Tyler Morris, William, Elizabeth & Vanessa Ripley, Noah Lewis, Cymberly & Scot O'Bryan and Emerald Jones and 3 great-great grandchildren: Allyson Halder, Ally & Avri White.He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, a son-in-law and 2 grandchildren.Memorials are suggested to benefit Campbell County Memorial Hospice or the Gillette First Church of the Nazarene.
