John 'Jake' Harold Jacobson

Mass of Christian Burial for John "Jake" Harold Jacobson will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 14, 2012 at St. Matthew's Catholic Church with Father Cliff Jacobson officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. with vigil and rosary from 6:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Gillette Memorial Chapel.Jake Jacobson, age 69, of Gillette, Wyoming passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at his home due to cancer.Jake was born on December 24, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Harold and Marianne (Slobodney) Jacobson. He graduated from Lexington High School in Lexington, Nebraska in 1961. Jake attended college at Kearney State College in Nebraska. He graduated from Alexian Brothers School of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois in 1966 Jake married the love of his life on September 17, 1966. He joined the United States Navy in 1966, receiving his honorable discharge as a Lieutenant in 1970. They moved to Rochester, Minnesota where he attended Mayo Clinic School of Anesthesia from 1970 to 1972. He moved with his family to Marshfield, Wisconsin where he worked for the Marshfield Clinic from 1972 until 1982. Jake moved to Texas and worked for Nausau St. Johns Hospital for a year before moving to Gillette, Wyoming in 1983, where he worked for North Plains Anesthesia from 1983 until 1996. He was a traveling nurse anesthetist when he retired. In his retirement, Jake was a substitute bus driver for Campbell County School District. Jake was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Matthew's Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, knitting, cross stich, woodworking, computers, motorcycles, auto mechanics and recently went zip lining. Jake is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen (Beaudoin) Jacobson of Gillette, Wyoming; sons: Joseph Jacobson of Gillette, Wyoming and Steven (Amy) Jacobson of Tehachapi, California; daughters: Kathleen "Katie" Jacobson of Gillette, Wyoming and Shawn (Jay) Hasquet of Sheridan, Wyoming; mother, Marianne Fagot of Lexington, Nebraska; sister, LaDonna Beiker of Pahrump, Nevada and eight grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his father Harold, step-father, Joseph Fagot and step-brother, Raymond Fagot.In lieu of flowers please make memorials in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org) or Hospice of Campbell County Memorial Hospital.
