Memorial service for Gary McWilliams will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Family Life Church, Gillette, Wyoming with Dan Barkus officiating. Cremation has taken place per Gary's request. A reception will be held after at the American Legion, all who knew Gary are welcome.Gary passed away August 7, 2012 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital.Gary Jerome McWilliams was born December 12, 1936 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Sherman and Elizabeth (Hols) McWilliams. Gary grew up on a farm outside of Oskaloosa with four sisters and one brother. He attended Prime School through the 8th grade. At that time he started working at a grainery in Oskaloosa until he was 18 and began working at a coal mine. When he was 20 he started working construction which eventually brought him to Wyoming in 1961.He married Kathryn Kay Simpkins on April 22, 1956. To this union three children were born: Rocky Lee, Julie Ann, and Patrick Wayne. From 1961 1965 he worked as a master mechanic in construction building sections of Interstate 90. In 1966 he joined Buck Graham in the ownership of Buck's Motors. He continued his love of auto sales for 40+ years. His business ventures included owning his own dealerships, McWilliams/Varner Chrysler Dodge and Mid-City Motors. He married Collette Wester on August 31, 1979 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. From this union he was blessed with 4 step-daughters: Glenda, Vikki, Tammy, and Kim, which he called his own. Gary and Collette had a love and passion for Quarter horse racing, owning and training some of the best in this area. He always had a story about fast Eddy, one of his favorites.Crossword puzzles, a good western on TV, watching his grandkids at their sporting events, and walking his beloved dog Tiki were things he truly enjoyed. He will always be remembered for his tall stories, calling every woman sissy, and his great love for family. Gary is survived by his wife, Collette, Son Rocky (Debbie) McWilliams of Gillette and daughter Julie (Patric) Wallace of Mendham, NJ. Step-daughters: Glenda Jilek of Pine Haven, Vikki (Jon) Bartow, Tammy (Tom) Beck, Kim (Troy) Scott all of Gillette. Grandchildren: Landon, Lane, Leslie, Layton, Jessica, Megan, Kaitlyn, Ronnie Lee, Stormy, Ty, Cody, Dustin, Missy, Levi, Quinten, Kassi, Brandi, Danya, Krista, Tia, and 20 great-grandchildren.
