Jessie Louise Duncan

April 21, 1928 — July 23, 2012

On Monday, July 23, 2012 Jessie Duncan, age 84, of Gillette, Wyoming joined our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was with family and hospice friends in her passing in peace and love. The family would like to thank Close to Home Hospice team for making this experience less painful for Jessie and her family. They are the angels on earth. Jessie lived with her daughter, Mary Robinson and Bill here in Gillette for the past 11 years. She spent 1 year in Centennial Wyoming where she fell in love with the snowy range mountains and meet dear friends Maggie and Joean Lankford. They enjoyed coffee, driving dirt roads, and good conversations. Most of Jessie's life was spent in Portland, Oregon, Colorado, and California. She was a Service Manager for a large hotel chain. Jessie earned many awards of excellence and respect of those she worked with being a hard worker and loving what she did. She loved basketball especially the Portland Trailblazers and the Denver Nuggets. Jessie loved hearing the cheers from her great grandsons and daughter. She loved the Pacific Ocean especially on the Oregon Coast. Before her sight diminished she loved to read and could sew beautifully. Jessie loved animals of all kind and supported No Kill Animal Shelters. Her two best animal friends were her cat Coco and her daughters dog Kali. Because of her sight she spent time at home with very special friends who came by. Especially when her loving friends, Bobbie and Norm Schnaible, stopped by to share a cup of coffee and sometimes a good bottle of wine, her neighbor, Dawn Sommers who shared her love of cats or Jim Haney who when in town made sure that they ate Long Johns Silver together. For those who came to know her kindness, generosity, and sense of humor, you will never forget her. She will be greatly missed. A special thanks to the nurses and CNA'S on 4N+4S at CCMH. The quality of care during her long stay was magnet. With loving thanks to Close to Home staff Melissa, nurses, and CNA'S for their compassion to Jessie and her family. Jessie loved this large family and friends with all her heart. Jessie is survived by daughters: Teresa, of Colorado and Mary of Gillette, Wyoming; son, James of Colorado; grandchildren: Taryn Long, Joel & Sharon Long, Cinnamon Swecker, Cathy & Nick Allemon, Donna Morefield, Toby Smith, Devin & Jared Vance, Amelia Rodinson, and Nick O'dell; great grandchildren: Addison, Adden, Aneka, Sophie, Hylady, Deckland, Ashley, Chantel, Tyler, Trey, Katy, William, Jennifer and Jaden, Alex, Ethan, Mikeala, Blake; great-great grandchildren: Cora, Peyton, Tegan, Skylar; one sister, Elaine; uncle, Bill; brother-in-law, Chuck; numerous nieces and nephews, Don Hinson and Leon Sedgwick loving nephews.
