Memorial service for Myrtice Cureton will be held at 10am Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Blanche Beck Memorial Chapel, Pioneer Manor Nursing Home, Gillette, Wyoming.Myrtice J. Cureton, age 87, of Gillette, Wyoming died from natural causes on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Gillette, Wyoming.Myrtice was born April 24, 1925 in Prescott, Arkansas, the daughter of Fred and Ruby (Moore) Jones. She was raised on the family farm and attended school in Gurdon, Arkansas. Myrtice married Carl Cureton in Salinas, California on June 9, 1956 and together the couple had one son. Carl was a military man so the family lived many different places. Myrtice worked in Food Service including six years as Food Service Manager at Centennial High School in Pueblo, Colorado and also at Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette. She and her family moved to Gillette in the 1980's but the couple would later retire and move to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Myrtice returned to Gillette, Wyoming in 2010 to be near family. She loved dogs and always had a dog until her last ten years. Myrtice also enjoyed collecting Humming Bird figurines. She was an active member of her church until her health began to decline and she loved to spend time doing outdoor activities. Myrtice is survived by her son Roger(Regina) Cureton of Pine Haven, Wyoming, her sister Irma Gilmer of El Paso, Texas; nephew: Don Urrey of Carmel Ca; grandson Chuck(Sonia) and great-grandkids Zo, Zane, and Zac of Phoenix, AzShe was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Earliss Lykins and by her husband Carl Cureton.Memorials and condolences may be sent in Myrtice's name in care of Walker Funeral Home, 410 Medical Arts Court, Gillette, Wyoming 82716.
