Funeral service for Connie Butler will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Walker Funeral Home, Gillette, Wyoming with Pastor Marty Crump of the Family Life Church as officiant. Visitation will be 4-7p.m. Monday, April 30, 2012 at Walker Funeral Home, Gillette, WY.Connie Carol Butler passed away April 26, 2012 at the Close to Home Hospice House in Gillette, Wyoming after fighting a courageous battle against lung cancer. She was born September 30, 1942 to Charles and Bea(Keck)Bridges in Sheridan, Wyoming. Connie attended Campbell County High School in Gillette, Wyoming where she was a baton twirler with the band. She met and married Tommie M. Butler, the love of her life in Rapid City, South Dakota on January 22, 1960. They were fortunate enough to celebrate 52 years of marriage together. Connie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had a love for poodles and working in her garden. She loved cooking which led to employment at various establishments in the community. One was cooking for the kids at Campbell County High School. Her love for kids then gained her a job as a teacher's aide at Lakeview Elementary where she retired. For many years Connie and Tommie were able to spend enjoyable summer's at their second home in Fort Smith, Montana, fishing and boating. Connie's love for cooking was enjoyed by many in the community and will be missed. Connie is survived by her husband Tommie, daughter, Becky Butler of Mitchell, Nebraska; son, Tommie Butler Jr. of Casper, Wyoming; and daughter, Brenda (John) Opseth of Gillette, Wyoming; granddaughters, Alicia (Michael) Garver and Hannah Brown, great-grandsons, Hayden and Kyzer Garver all of Mitchell, Nebraska; sisters, Della Wasserburger of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; and Betty Richardson of Gillette, Wyoming; brother, Richard (Linda) Bridges of Thermopolis, Wyoming; and sister in law, Kathy Bridges of Gillette, Wyoming;as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother James Bridges, two infant brothers, one infant sister and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.Memorials are suggested to benefit the Close to Home Hospice and Hospitality House or the Cancer Center.
