William Swain

Graveside service for William "Bud" Edward Swain were held on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with Gene Hanson officiating. Military Honors were provided by the American Legion Post #42.Bud Swain, age 85, of Gillette, Wyoming died on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital.Bud Swain was born on June 8, 1926 the son of Victor Debbs and Eliza Mattie (Mayo) Swain Sr. in Aurora, North Carolina and remained there until he was 15. The family then moved to Baltimore, Maryland. When Bud was 17, he joined the United states Navy and served in WWII. He received an honorable discharge in 1947. Bud met his future wife Lucille Wilkson on October 5, 1945. The couple was married on December 15, 1945. The couple celebrated 66 years together this past December. Bud worked in the oil fields for many years, in many states including Wyoming, Montana, Oklahoma, Colorado, Nebraska and Canada. While in Canada he and Lucille had their only child, Donna born on November 1, 1952. Bud began moving mobile homes here in Gillette and all around the country from 1962 until 1992. Along the way he acquired his faithful side kick Lonnie Crowley, who helped him until he retired. Bud and Lucille purchased Knights Trailer Park in 1979, which kept them very busy. He was never too busy for his family and enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were the light of his life.Bud is survived by his wife, Lucille Swain of Gillette, Wyoming; daughter Donna (Ron) Cossette of Gillette, Wyoming; granddaughters: Chara (Jody) Wood and Dena Richards; great grandchildren: Janeaha Lindstrom, Shaelyn Wood, Jamie Swain Lindstrom, and Clayton "Bubba" Wood; two brothers: Victor (Joan) Swain of Severn, Maryland and Ralph (Diane) Swain of Greenville, North Carolina.He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Edna Mae and Lucille.Memorials and condolences may be sent in Bud's name in care of Gillette Memorial Chapel, 210 W. 5th Street, Gillette, Wyoming 82716 or condolences via the internet at www.gillettememorialchapel.com.Funeral Home:Gillette Memorial Chapel210 West Fifth Street Gillette, WYUS 82716
