Mass of the Christian burial for Edith Berg will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2012 at St. Mathews Catholic Church in Gillette, Wyoming with Father Tim Martinson as celebrant. Visitation will be prior to the service at Gillette Memorial Chapel from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Edith Berg , age 86, died Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Pioneer Manor in Gillette, Wyoming. Edith Evelyn Berg was born to Philemon Aaron and Goldie Hilma Victoria (Kardell) Reimers both from Sweden on November 11, 1925 in Laurel, Nebraska She grew up on a farm with her 6 brothers, Glen, Bernard, Guy, George, Dean, Gene and 4 sisters, Elsie, Verline, Mary Ann and Jeanette. She graduated from Laurel High School in 1943, and later the family moved to Sheridan, Wyoming. In Sheridan she met her husband, Melvin Clark Berg and they were married on January 12, 1944 in Hardin, Montana. She attended Sheridan Beauty College getting her degree in 1947. They moved to Gillette where she started her first beauty salon on main street in the back of the Quality Dress Shop. In 1949 she gave birth to Kathleen Marie, their only child. They purchased a home at 511 East Third where she set up her beauty salon, which she operated until she retired at the age of 83.Edith loved to cook, sew, take care of her grandchildren, play bingo, and send cards and letters to the sick and grieving. She belonged to various clubs including the Cottiette Club, the VFW, the American Legion Auxiliary, and was a Charter Member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles.Edith is survived by her daughter, Kathie (Raymond) Cates of Gillette, Wyoming; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; brothers, Gene Reimers of Sheridan, Wyoming; George Reimers of Sydney, Montana; sisters, Mary Ann Kahler of Great Falls, Montana; and Jeanette Hoffman of Cody, Wyoming: five step-grandchildren and numerous step- great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and two sisters.EDITH WILL ALWAYS BE MISSED, ALWAYS BE LOVED AND ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED!Memorials and condolences may be sent in Edith's name in care of Gillette Memorial Chapel, 210 West 5th Street, Gillette, Wyoming 82716.
