Betty Louise Dorr

A private family memorial service for Betty Dorr will be on March 6, 2012 at the Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Celebrant Kenna Rose officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette, Wyoming. Betty L. Dorr, age 89 passed away on March 1, 2012 at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital of natural causes.Betty Louise (Moore) Dorr was born on July 12, 1922 the daughter of Albert C. and Norma M. (Whitcher) Moore in Moorcroft, Wyoming. Betty attended school in Moorcroft and Spearfish, South Dakota graduating from Spearfish High School in 1940. She attended the Black Hills State College for two years where she received her normal training to be a teacher in Campbell and Crook County. She taught school for several years. During this time she met Delmer Marsh and the couple was married and to this union two children were born, their daughter Rena and a son, Greg. The couple later divorced. Betty moved to Gillette, Wyoming where she owned and operated the Queen Bee dress store on main street. She met and married Bill Dorr and later began working for Dorr Accounting. The couple was married on March 1, 1971 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. At this time Betty and Bill became a blended family with seven children, adding Mark, Patrick, Joel, Shawn and Michelle Dorr. Betty retired in 1975 and the couple made their summer home in Gillette and their cabin at Keyhole, their winter home in Tucson, Arizona.Betty's passion was for golfing, and she was a self taught artist, using acrylic painting. She also created personalized mailboxes for all of her children. She was a creative artist always doing some type of craft. She enjoyed her time with family and friends at their cabin at Keyhole reservoir. Betty is survived by her husband Bill Dorr of Gillette, WY; one daughter, Rena Miller of Gillette, WY; stepsons, Mark, Patrick, Shawn Dorr of Gillette, WY, Joel Dorr of San Diego, CA; step daughter, Michelle Kallhoff of Cheyenne, WY; one sister, Willa Beck of Prescott, Arizona, sixteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Greg Marsh and one brother, Norman "Sonny" Moore.In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Betty's name.
