Isla Elaine Bay

Memorial service for Isla Elaine Bay will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2012 at Gillette Memorial Chapel, Gillette, Wyoming with Pastor Gordon Harper of Vineyard Christian Fellowship officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.Elaine Bay, age 85, of Gillette, Wyoming passed away Sunday, February 26, 2012 at the Close To Home Hospice House after an extended battle with cancer.Elaine was born June 4, 1926 on Miller Creek, north of Moorcroft, Wyoming, the daughter of Elzy and Mabel (Hatfield) Davis. She graduated from Campbell County High School in 1944 and she lived most of her life in Campbell County. On July 16, 1948 Elaine married Eldred B. Bay in Gillette, Wyoming and together the couple had two daughters. Elaine and Eldred would later divorce in 1975. Elaine held jobs as a bookkeeper as well as various other jobs. She worked as the bookkeeper at Bay's Auto and Tractor Repair, a business in Gillette, owned by her and Eldred Bay until their divorce. She also worked for Fashion Fabric, J. C. Penny, Frank's Texaco, and the Credit Bureau. Elaine was a lifetime member of Royal Neighbors of America and she loved to travel with friends and family.Elaine is survived by her only daughter, Judy (Jack) Scherr of Gillette, Wyoming; grandsons: Jake (Kristi) Scherr of Rapid City, South Dakota and Joel (Laurie)Scherr of Hammond, Louisiana; two great grandsons: Dominic and Brayden Scherr; and by numerous nieces, and long time friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, her sister, and by her long time companion Doug Pownall.Memorials are suggested to benefit Close to Home Hospice House of Gillette.
