Funeral services for William "Bill" Shelly will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Gillette Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Nathan Enis of the Black Hills Christian Fellowship officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery, with military honors provided by the American Legion Post #42. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Gillette Memorial Chapel.Bill Shelly, age 82, of Gillette, Wyoming died at Campbell County Memorial Hospital on Saturday, February 25, 2012 of natural causes.William Arthur Shelly, best known to his family and friends as "Bill" was born on January 21, 1930 in Gordon, Nebraska the son of William and Viola (Cardwell) Shelly. He was raised and educated in Gordon. Upon the completion of his education he entered the United States Navy. After his honorable discharge from the Navy he went to work in the oilfield. Bill worked in North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming and South America. He married Ardelle Thompson on October 20, 1960. The couple settled in Gillette, Wyoming in 1964 and raised their family here. Bill enjoyed Walleye fishing and hunting with his boys and friends, early morning visits at the coffee shop, and walking at Walmart as well as trips to Deadwood. He loved to cook, visiting his family at work, spending time with his grandchildren and motorcycles. Bill will be remembered for his light hearted spirit, quick wit and ability to "tell it like it is".Bill is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ardelle Shelly of Gillette; children: Mark (Starla) Shelly of Gillette, Brad (Kirsten) Shelly of Rapid City, South Dakota and Jackie (Jeff) Ramsey of Gillette, Wyoming; half brother, Kenneth Shelly; sisters: Dixie (Jake) Houser, Jan "Tuttie" (Jim) Livingston all of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Morris Shelly, Mick Shelly and Butch Shelly; sisters: Jeanette Howel, Mary Abbott, Donna Quevedo and Margrette ShellyMemorials are suggested to the American Heart Association in Bill's name.
