Mass of Christian Burial for Harold S. Kennedy will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 27, 2012 at St. Matthew's Catholic Church with Father Cliff Jacobson officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Gillette Memorial Chapel followed by a rosary/vigil prayer service at 2:00 p.m.Harold Skipper Kennedy, age 59, of Gillette, Wyoming passed away in his home on Saturday, February 18, 2012. Harold Kennedy was born in Superior, Wyoming on August 17, 1952. He was adopted by Lois and JW Kennedy of Sundance, Wyoming and it was at the family ranch that he fell in love with horses and ranching. Harold graduated from Sundance High School in 1971. While attending Sheridan College he met Nellie Jo Batinovich, and they were later married on August 17, 1974 in Sundance. Harold continued college at the University of Wyoming and studied Agriculture Business, he graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree. In 1987, Harold and Nellie were able to adopt their son, Benjamin Kennedy. The family enjoyed mountain pack trips and participating in wagon trains together where Harold was an experienced horseman and teamster. They attended the Wyoming Centennial Wagon Train in 1990. Harold was a dedicated employee of the Wyoming State Highway Department for 30 years and served in Sheridan and Wright, Wyoming. Another interest of Harold's was carpentry and home remodeling. Harold is survived by his son, Benjamin (Morgan) Kennedy of Forsyth, Montana, his parent's Lois & JW Kennedy of Sundance, Wyoming along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
