Graveside services for Richard "Dick" Smith will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Moorcroft Cemetery with Pastor Guille Seigler of the First Southern Baptist Church in Moorcroft officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 -7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Dick Smith, age 78, of Moorcroft, Wyoming died On Monday, December 19, 2011 at Close To Home Hospice in Gillette, Wyoming.Dick Smith was born on September 1, 1933 in Newcastle, Wyoming the son of Evert E. and Edna (Johnson) Smith. He was raised and educated in various Wyoming schools graduating from Byron High School in 1953. Upon graduation, he worked many oilfield jobs. Dick met Ruth Evelyn Malliot of Powell, Wyoming and they were married on December 18, 1954. They were blessed with three children: Sheila, David and Susan. Dick started his own business, Dick's Hot Oil Service in Osage, Wyoming and later moved from Osage to Moorcroft, Wyoming in 1968. As a member of the Keyhole Boat Club, Dick spent many summers fishing and boating with family. He also loved to restore old cars, being in the great outdoors, especially in the mountains and around wildlife. Dick Enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and he never knew a stranger.Dick is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Smith of Moorcroft, Wyoming; his children: Sheila (Keith) Yount of Moorcroft, Wyoming, David (Tammie) Smith of Gillette, Wyoming and Susan (Chuck) Cornelius of Gillette, Wyoming; grandchildren: Steven (Monica) Yount, Bill (Erin) Yount, Kelly (Rachel) Smith, Jordan and Allison Smith, Kayla, Heather and Rachel Cornelius; great-grandchildren: Sierra, Abby, Colin, Bridgette, Ava, Levi and Chloe; sister, Mignon Thorson of Sundance, Wyoming and brother-in-law, Jack Spencer of Sundance, Wyoming.He was preceded in death by his parents; eleven brothers and sisters.Memorials are suggested to benefit Close To Home Hospice House in Dick's name.
