Lawrence Edward "Larry" Ganskow, passed away at the Hospice House in Gillette, WY on December 17th, 2011 after a 2 year battle with severe pancreatitis. Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, December 19th at the LDS church, 1500 O'Hara Drive. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 20th at the LDS church on 1500 O'Hara Drive at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Tracy Breinholt officiating. Dedication of the gravesite will follow in Mount Pisgah Cemetery. Larry was born in Omaha, NE on July 13th 1947. He was the son of George and Helen Ganskow. He lived in Neligh, NE during his early years and then moved to Kearney, NE. There he graduated from Kearney High School in 1965. He continued his education at Kearney State College in business education until he was drafted into the Army in 1969.Larry married Sharon "Sherry" Schroeder on June 15, 1968 and made Kearney their home. He was later drafted into the service, Army, in 1969. He spent his tour at Fort Lewis in Washington where he served in the military police and as a drill sergeant. In 1982, Larry and family moved to Gillette, Wy where they made it their home. He started his own safety business in 1991 in which he thoroughly enjoyed his work and the people. He was forced to retire in September 2011 due to his illness.Larry would be the first to tell you that his greatest accomplishment was his children and grandchildren. He cherished the relationships with his family and close friends.Larry enjoyed the outdoors. One of his favorite activities was snowmobiling in the Big Horns with his son and 4-wheeling followed in a close second. His daughter showed him the beauty in the fine arts (music, dance, and art work). Larry enjoyed flowers, especially roses. There would be times that he would go to the parks to trim the rose bushes so that they would continue to bloom throughout the summer. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sherry; his children Laura (Dana) Hegel of Gillette and Aaron (Beth) Ganskow of Gillette. Grandchildren; Tristan and Caitlyn Ganskow and Emma Hegel.Larry was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Raymond Schroeder.Memorials are suggested to Pilots for Christ, P.O.
