Memorial service for Dwayne William Thomas will be at 10:00a.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Gillette Memorial Chapel, Gillette, Wyoming with Pastor Gordon Harper of Vineyard Christian Church officiating. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post #42. Dwayne W. Thomas, age 78, of Gillette, Wyoming passed away at his home on December 15, 2011 after an extended illness. Dwayne was born in Willow Lake, South Dakota on March 3, 1933, the son of Joe and Eva (Freeman) Thomas. While he was young his family moved to White Lake and then Kimball, South Dakota where Dwayne would graduate high school. Soon after graduating high school he joined the U.S. Army and severed state side until receiving an honorable discharge. Dwayne returned home to White Lake, South Dakota after his time in the military and on June 23, 1958 he married Ruth Blasius in Kimball, South Dakota. Together the couple moved to Gillette, Wyoming in 1965. Dwayne worked for Exeter Drilling until his retirement in 1995. Dwayne is survived by his wife Ruth Thomas of Gillette, Wyoming; sons: Doug (Jami) Thomas of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Rick Thomas of Gillette, Wyoming; Scott (Christina) Thomas of Denver, Colorado; daughters: Janet Thomas of Gillette, Wyoming; Lori (Scot) Lewis of Denver, Colorado; one brother, Joe (Elaine) Thomas of Belle Fourche, South Dakota; one sister, Marylis Thomas of Belle Fourche, South Dakota; grandchildren: R.J. Thomas, Loryn and Jordyn Lewis, and Hunter Thomas.
