Funeral services for William Ray Hopkins will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 19, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pasto Jared Tucher officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.Ray Hopkins, age 85, of Gillette, Wyoming passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home of natural causes. Ray Hopkins was born on November 25, 1926 in Brady Texas the son of Clyde and Lizzie Hopkins. Early in 1943, he met Ella Barlett, the love of his life. The couple was married on December 17, 1943 in Sweetwater, Texas. Ray served in the United States Army beginning in 1944. He received his basic training in Texas and was stationed in New York till his discharge after the end of World War II. Upon their return to Texas he spent the next 45 years working in numerous states in the oil field industry. Upon his retirement Ray and Ella enjoyed fishing, camping and watching the Rockies and Broncos together.Ray is survived by his daughters: Shirley Silzars of Beaverton, Oregon and Sandy Roesler of Gillette, Wyoming; grandchildren: Ken Silzars, Jeff Silzars, Angie (Mike) Dunstan, and Josh Lukert; great-grandchildren: Kolby, Shyla and Skyler Dunstan; sister, Lorene (Joe) Zimmer and family.He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and one sister.Memorials and condolences may be sent in Ray's name in care of Gillette Memorial Chapel, 210 W. 5th Street, Gillette, Wyoming 82716 or condolences via the internet at www.gillettememorialchapel.com.Funeral Home:Gillette Memorial Chapel210 West Fifth Street Gillette, WYUS 82716
