She was surrounded by family and love.Lois Louise Geier was born September 9, 1948 in Buffalo, WY to D. Orrel and Vera Mae Geier. She was four of five children who grew up on a ranch in the Big Piney area, in the shadow of Fort Phil Kearny. She was known to family and friends as Louise. When not helping her father with their registered Herefords, or any other ranch work, she could be found riding the pastures or playing with the kittens. She attended a small one room country school until her high school years which were spent in Buffalo. While attending high school, Gary Kay, came to work for her father as a ranch hand. Many a weekend was spent working cattle and riding the pastures together, allowing a friendship to blossom and grow. Louise graduated high school in 1966 and then continued her education by attending the University of Wyoming. During her time in college the relationship between her and Gary began to grow, but had to be put on hold when he was drafted to go to Vietnam. In 1970 Louise graduated with a Bachelors degree in Art Education. On June 20, 1970 in Story, WY Gary and Louise were married. Gary had gotten a job in Gillette with the City of Gillette, and Louise found a job teaching art at Stocktrail Elementary School. When her and Gary started a family, Louise decided to be a live at home mom, making her children and her home a priority. Her and Gary had also started raising Welsh Ponies. Both of them having a love for horses this was something they enjoyed doing even when the work was hard. After having their third child they sold all but a few ponies to keep just for the family. Louise was very active in her children's education, being involved with both Bundy and 4-J schools. When all of her children were of school age, Louise began substitute teaching in the elementary schools in Gillette. She found such joy helping children learn. Many people know Louise for her artwork. God gave her a wonderful gift that she loved to use and allowed her to give other people great joy. Many homes are filled with her artwork. She would often just start doodling and would soon have an incredible piece of artwork at the end. Louise also had a never ending love of the outdoors, which a person could see when they looked at her gardens and flower beds. She often could be found outside weeding the beds with the help of a family dog or two or even the occasional barn cat. Even after her diagnoses of cancer, Louise never let it slow her down or weaken her faith and love in God. She continually was a strong witness for Christ, sharing with those she came in contact with of all the great things He has, can, and will do. She forever will be an inspiration to all.Louise is survived by her husband Gary, her sons Trevor (DeAnna) Kay, Travis (Jamie Sanburn) Kay all of Gillette, daughters Toni (Joshua) Diede of Hulett, WY, Tara (Scott Brandenburg) Kay of Gillette, sisters Barbara (John) Eychaner of Banner, WY, Phyllis (Ray) Simon and Orlene (Eddie) Perritt of Sheridan, WY, brother Marlin (Mary) Geier of Osage, WY, and step grandchildren Nathan, Brendan, and Devin all of Hulett, WY.
