Funeral service for Jeffrey Van Vlerah will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 2. 2011 at Antelope Valley Baptist Church, Gillette, WY with Pastor Mark Porter as officiant. Interment to follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery, Gillette, WY. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Walker Funeral Home. Jeffrey Allen Van Vlerah passed away quietly on November 28 in Gillette, WY at the age of 54. He was born in Marion Ohio on August 26, 1957 to Paul and Frances (Blanton) Van Vlerah. He graduated from Harding High School where he participated in Golden Glove boxing before moving to pursue a career in the Wyoming oilfields in 1979. Jeff found and married his beloved Juanita LaRee Fitzgerald in March of 1981. The couple made their home initially in Moorcroft before moving to Gillette and finally Pine Haven, Wyoming. Jeff faithfully served tirelessly as a professional journeyman lineman for 28 years where he rose to the position of District Foreman. However his most precious moments were spent with his family and friends enjoying sporting activities to include boating, bowling, camping, fishing, hunting, and golf to name a few. He excelled in playing Texas Hold Em, recently participated in the Senior High Five bowling tournament and had once won the Wyoming State Double's bowling tournament. His good nature and sense of humor made it easy for him to continually add new friends and enrich their lives as such.He enjoyed his lengthy service as a union steward, a board member of the Keyhole Country Club, the Antelope Valley Baptist church, and past member of the Civil Air Patrol. He is survived by his wife Juanita, daughter Christy (Scott) Baker of Reynoldsburg, OH, son Nathan (Andrea) Van Vlerah of Gillette, siblings Gaylord (JoAnne) Van Vlerah, Henry Van Vlerah, Penny (Steve) Allen, and Chris Schlosser all of Marion, OH; and 5 grandchildren.
