Danny Roy Overman, of Gillette, passed away Sunday evening as a result of cancer related complications. He was in the presence of family and loved ones as he moved on from his journey on this earth.Memorial services are arranged to be held Saturday, Nov. 26 at 2 p.m. at First Assembly of God in Gillette. There will be a viewing open to the public from noon to 1:30 p.m. and a reception to follow the service. Dan was born Dec. 15, 1943, in Valentine, Neb. His parents, Clarence Reid and Ethel Fern brought him and the rest of the family to Casper in the mid 1950s.Dan graduated from Natrona County High School in Casper in 1961. In high school, he was a standout in baseball and wrestling. Immediately after high school, he joined the Army and was stationed in Germany for the duration of his service. He married Carol Wilson in 1967, and had two children, Pamela and Carrie, as well as acquiring a step-daughter, Brenda.Dan later married Marilynn Sweet in 1976, and had three children, Jared, Monty and Mark.In 1971, Dan began working at Albertson's grocery store and became the store director about 12 years later. Most of his time as manager was spent in Gillette until he retired in 2006.Even in the face of his vast responsibilities at work he was able to prioritize and put his family first. He spent much time with his wife and children, including yearly summer vacations, fishing and hunting trips.Besides taking the time, he also conveyed love to his family through his generosity.He was survived by wife, Marilynn; children, Pamela Sharo, Carrie Thibault, Brenda Ramos, Jared Overman, Monty Overman and Mark Overman; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Jean Young, Judi Mathisen and brothers, Jerry, George, Richard, and Robert.
