Mass of Christian burial for Larry Heer will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 17, 2011 at the St. Matthews Catholic Church in Gillette, Wyoming with Father Tim Martinson as celebrant. Burial will be at 2:00 pm. at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, SD. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at the Walker Funeral Home with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Larry Lawrence Heer, age 52, passed away at his home in Gillette, Wyoming, November 12, 2011, following a long battle with congestive heart failure. Larry Lawrence Heer was born September 14, 1959, in Huron, South Dakota, to Lawrence and Maxine (Duerkop) Heer. He completed elementary and high school in Doland, South Dakota. He graduated in May of 1977. In that same year, he went on to enter the United States Marine Corps on August 16. During his service he was a combat engineer and special services coordinator. He was Honorably Discharged in August of 1980. He came to Gillette, WY, to be with his dad and look for employment. From 1980 to 1985, Larry worked for Petty Ray Geophysical operating blasting equipment. On September 20, 1986, Larry married Marilyn Stroup in Gillette, Wyoming. To this union two daughters, Haley Ann and Leah Marie, were born. Larry was very proud of his girls and his three grandchildren, Trystin, Amaranth, and Tommy. During the years of 1985 to 1998, he operated bulk and cement pumping equipment for Halliburton Services, Sun Cementing, and B. J. Services. He transported milk from farms to receiving plants for Dairy Farms of America from 1999 to 2000. In February of 2001, Larry suffered effects of a heart virus and became disabled. It was still important to him to work at whatever jobs he could find that were not too strenuous. In 2003 to 2005, Larry worked security and maintenance for Clarion Hotel. Following that he returned to operate bulk and cement pumping equipment for Basic Energy Services. Larry was very sports minded and loved the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins. He never missed a football game on TV. Larry was preceded in death by an infant sister, two infant grandchildren, brother-in-law Bobby Warner, and his father. Grateful for sharing in Larrys life are his children and grandchildren, his mother, three sisters, Ann Marie (John) DesLauriers, Doland, SD, Darlene Donner, Lead, SD, and Donna Warner, Gillette, WY, one brother, Frank (Carmen) Heer, Gillette, WY, and several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
