Walter Dysinger

Mr. Walter Michael Mick Dysinger died Monday morning, Oct. 31, 2011, in Gillette.He was born in Butte, Mont., on March 17, 1923. He was the son of Henrietta and Dick Dysinger and attended local schools.Walter began work at a very young age so that he could help support his mother and sister after the death of his father. When World War II began, he entered the military where he drove a tank destroyer. He was injured in battle and received both the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for service under action.Following his military service, he went to work for the Montana Highway Patrol. Among other duties, he was assigned to administer the drivers exam. Family lore holds that Mick once flunked an entire class of students.He married Rosemary Keavney on April 10, 1948. Shortly after his marriage, he returned to Butte and began working at Wilsons Motors continuing his life-long passion for automobiles. Up until his death, he was contemplating which vehicle he wanted to get next.In order to better support what he hoped would be a large family, he went to work as a driver for Safeway Foods. He worked as a driver until his retirement in 1982. Upon retirement, he and Rosemary began to travel, enjoying visits to their children and families located across the U.S. Mick also enjoyed spending time with his retirement dogs Boomer and Charlie.He was a member of the Teamsters Union, the Silver Beaus and Belles Square Dance Club, the Happy Times Dance Club and the Elks. Mick was a great friend and was always there whenever there was a need. He spent many happy hours visiting with his friends over a bite to eat.He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rosemary; his children, Janice (Kenn) Gray of Gillette, Elaine (Jim) Benner of Denver, Mike (Rose) Dysinger of Escalon, Calif., Dan (Catherine) Dysinger of Tucson, Ariz., Jeanne (Rob) Farrell of Sunnyside, Wash., Jennifer (Joe) Sologub of San Antonio, Texas and daughter-in-law Patty Dysinger of Butte; grand and great-grandchildren, Jason Gray, Megan Gray, Zachary Gray, Maratha (Dwight) Paulson and son Jacob, Mike (Tara) Benner and son Keldon, Jon Dysinger, Richard (Billie) Dysinger and son Logan, Ryan Benner, Katie (Sam) Walters and daughter Lydia, Eamon Dysinger, Conor Dysinger, Danielle Dysinger and Hannah Dysinger; niece, Felice Keck; nephews, Emmitt, Jeff and Ed Cleary and families and cousins Peggy and Mike Walsh and family.Walter was preceded in death by his son, David; his parents and his sister Alice Hendrickson.The family would like to thank the staff at the Primrose Retirement Community Doc, the Sarges, The Boss and all the ladies who helped make our fathers time a joy. We will always be grateful.At his request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service and entombment of ashes will be in Butte at a later date.Memorials are suggested to the Close to Home Hospice Hospitality House or a charity of the donors choice.
