Funeral service for Vernon L. Ault will be at 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 20,2011 at the Walker Funeral Home with Father Tim Martinson of St. Matthew's Catholic Church of Gillette, Wyoming officiating. Burial will follow in Gillette's, Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with full military honors provided by the American Legion Post #42. One hour prior to the service on Thursday there will be a gathering for friends and family at the funeral home. Vernon, age 71, passed away at his home in Gillette on October 17, 2011.Upon his wishes, a private cremation service has taken place.Vernon Leroy Ault was born on January 10, 1940 the son of Lloyd and Nellie(Robinett) Ault in Des Moines, Iowa. Vernon was raised and educated in Ankeny, Iowa and graduated from Ankeny high school in 1958. After graduating from high school Vernon worked for John Deere as an assembler. He enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard and served for 21 years, earning the rank of First Sergeant.Upon retirement from the U.S. Army, Vernon entered into farming until 1987.He moved the family to Gillette, Wyoming in 1987 and Vernon was employed in maintenance and security work until his retirement.He met Gertrude "Gertie" O'Hearn in Des Moines. The couple married on January 10, 1963 and has been married for 48 years.He enjoyed watching sports, his favorites being NASCAR and football. Vernon enjoyed fishing at Keyhole State Park, WY and doing carpentry work. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, joking with everyone he could and being the best husband and father by just simply being there.Vernon is survived by his wife, Gertie Ault of Gillette, WY; four sons, David (Tammy) Ault of Mount Airy, Maryland; Daniel (Julie) Ault of Gillette, WY; Donald (Diane) Ault of Gillette, WY; Richard Ault (fianc StephGerlosky) of Gillette, WY; two daughters, Mary Eischeid (fianc JackSindelar) and Susan Deranick of Gillette, WY; one brother, Steven (Fran) Ault of Bettendorf, IA; one sister, Barbara (Darrell) Porter of Ankeny, IA; thirteen grandchildren, Chris Eischeid Sr., Joshua Ault, Elise Fields, Jessica McDonough, Tony Ault, Justin Eischeid, Jake Ault, Jenessa Ault, Joe Ault, Keith Nelson, A.J. Nelson, Ava Ault, Jaxson Ault, seven great grandchildren, Christopher Jr., Devon, Sierra, Lily, Noah, Madison, Colt and several nieces and nephews.
