Michael Tonn

Memorial service for Mike Tonn will be held September 29, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at the Church at the Barn on Echeta road, with Pastor Elgin Faber officiating.Michael Tonn was born October 3, 1961 in Wheatland, Wyoming the son of Benjamin Terrance "Terry" and Marilyn Pivik Tonn. He attended Wyoming Schools graduating from Hot Springs County High School in Thermopolis with the class of 1980. Upon graduation he began working in the construction industry in Casper. He married Kelly Kathleen Childers on June 10, 1983 at Jenny Lake in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The couple made their home in Thermopolis until moving to Gillette in 1996. Together Mike and Kelly ran their family business, Tonn construction, while raising their two daughters.To say Mike was an avid hunter, was an understatement. Hunting adventures were not limited to the United States, Mike hunted worldwide in many adventures. He was recently was recognized for becoming a member of the Grand Slam Club, an honor bestowed on those who collected all four species of North American Wild Sheep. Mike loved the outdoors and spent as much time as possible in the mountains. He also enjoyed spending time at the lake boating and water skiing and snowmobiling. Mike is survived by his wife Kelly of Gillette, WY; daughters Trisha and Penny Tonn of Laramie, WY; father Terry Tonn of Thermopolis, WY; brothers Terry "Tonto" Tonn of Thermopolis, WY, Matt Tonn of Gillette, WY, and Ricky Scott of Rock Springs, WY, sisters Lauri Ann Haid of Minneapolis, MN, Lisa Ann Saunders of Gillette, WY, Leigh Ann Yerkovich of Rock Springs, WY, Jo Rae Erickson of Lafeyette, CO, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his mother Marilyn, and grandparents, Benjamin and Laura Tonn, and Joe and Dorothy Pivik.Condolences can be sent in Mike's name in care of Walker Funeral Home, 410 Medical Arts Court, Gillette, Wy 82716.
