Funeral services for William "Bill" Pitt will be at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2011 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1500 O'Hara Ave, Gillette, WY with Bishop Heaton presiding. Visitation will be 10:00-11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the Lovell Cemetery, Lovell, WY. William George Pitt, age 72, passed away August 16, 2011 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital.William was born October 8, 1938, the son of Howard and Ethel (Rabenstein) Pitt in Thermopolis, Wyoming where he was raised and went to school. Bill served six years in the United States Marine Corp. He then enlisted in the United States Navy where he served another eight years seeing two tours of duty in Vietnam and receiving two bronze stars. Bill married Franklene (Anderson) April 19, 1968 and the couple had four children, adopted their grandson and Bill also had twin daughters from a previous relationship. They moved to Wright, WY in 1979 where Bill worked at various jobs until 1989 when he moved to Casper, WY and taught welding at Wyoming Welding School for two years. He always encouraged all his students to get their GED and become better people.The family moved to Gillette, WY in 1998 and Bill worked for EMS until he retired in 2002.Bill was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, teasing everyone he could, and being the best husband and father in the world. He also enjoyed fishing in the Big Horns and traveling.Bill is survived by his wife of 43 years, Franklene of Gillette, WY; son, Willy (Linda) Pitt of Fort Benning, GA; daughters, Kelle Shubitowski of North Pole, Alaska; Teri (Jeff) Douglass of Coolidge, AZ; Karen Pitt of Casper, WY; Kathy (Jerry) Bryan of Gillette, WY; Billie (Craig) Holden of Casper, WY; brother Keith (Lois) Pitt of Glenrock, WY; sisters, Violet (Robert) Snow of Thermopolis, WY; Rilene Morgan of Provo, UT; eighteen grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his father and mother; mother-in-law, Elva Anderson; paternal and fraternal grandparents; sisters Bonnie Taylor and Nellie Pitt; brothers, Howard, Cleo, and Wallace Pitt; grandson Ben Duncan; brother-in-law, Paul Taylor.Memorials and condolences can be sent in Bill's name in care of the Walker Funeral Home, 410 Medical Arts Court, Gillette, WY 82718 or condolences can be sent via the internet at www.walkerfuneralgillette.com.Funeral Home:Walker Funeral Home410 Medical Arts CourtGillette, WYUS 82716
