Memorial services for Carlene Spomer will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Abundant Life Church in Gillette, Wyoming with Pastor Steve Carnahan officiating. Carlene Spomer, age 65, of Gillette, Wyoming passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at the Sheridan Manor in Sheridan, Wyoming after a battle with cancer.Carlene Spomer was born April 4, 1946 in Casper, Wyoming the daughter of Peter and Dorothy (Miller) Van Buggenem. She attended country school as a child and graduated from Campbell County High School in 1964. Soon after graduation she married James Spomer on June 6, 1964, and together the couple had two children. Carlene was a full time homemaker who loved her family and also the chickens that she raised. She was an avid historian with a great interest in the Luis and Clark Trail as well as the Bozeman and Oregon Trails. If anyone asked a question on those subjects Carlene would have an answer right away. Carlene also enjoyed working around the house or in her garden but she especially enjoyed time spent with family and close friends.Carlene is survived by her husband, James Spomer of Gillette, Wyoming; son, Micheal (Tina) Spomer of Colorado; daughter, Heidi (Wayne) Yarnell of Montana; brother, Leory Van Buggenem of Story, Wyoming; and six grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents.Memorials and condolences may be sent in Carlene's name in care of Gillette Memorial Chapel, 210 W. 5th Street, Gillette, Wyoming 82716 or condolences via the internet at www.gillettememorialchapel.com.Funeral Home:Gillette Memorial Chapel210 West Fifth Street Gillette, WYUS 82716
