A celebration of William Semple's life and will be held on Saturday July 16, 2011 at 3 pm at the Campbell County Senior Center, 701 Stocktrail Ave., everyone is welcome to come share memories and visit with his family.William Caswell Semple (Bill) passed away on Tuesday evening July 12, 2011 after a brief battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family and faithful dog, Caswell. We assume that Bart greeted him upon his arrival on the other side. Bill was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on April 24, 1933, and grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He graduated from Central High School in 1951. Bill attended Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana and SMU in Dallas, Texas. He served in the Army for 2 years. After serving in the Army Bill moved to the Rocky Mountain area. In 1962, he moved to Gillette, Wyoming to run a core analysis lab. Noticing the lack of entertainment options he opened the Sky Hi Drive-In Theatre in 1963. In 1965, Bill married Judith Anderson in Torrington, Wyoming. Together they ran the Drive-In and in 1967, they opened the Pronghorn theatre at 211 S. Gillette Ave. In 1968, their daughter Elizabeth was born followed by their son Lindsay in 1972. Bill was an active member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, serving on the Vestry and singing in the Choir for 26 years. Bill served on the board of Planned Parenthood, Personal Frontiers, Inc., assisted the City as it adopted zoning and was a parking ticket judge for Mayor Carter. He was involved in many enterprises including real estate, oil and gas, retail and community development.Bill is survived by his wife Judith, of 45 years; his son, Lindsay and wife Debora of Gillette, Wyoming; his daughter, Elizabeth and husband Justin Victor of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and his grandchildren: Dani Creech of Johnstown, Colorado; Sophia Trotta, Rachel and Katie Victor all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Micah Neville, Annette Curtis and Marissa Kuhbacher and 8 great grandchildren of Gillette, Wyoming; his nieces: Sara Johnson of Bozeman, Montana, and Leslie Ogden of Cavalier, North Dakota.Memorial gifts in honor of Bill may be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church Building Fund or to Personal Frontiers, Inc.
