A family memorial service for Dean G. Peper will take place at a later date. Upon his wishes a private cremation service has taken place.Dean, age 73 passed away on Monday, July 11, 2011 at the Close to Home Hospice House in Gillette, Wyoming of lung disease.Dean Gordon Peper known to his friends as Peper was born on May 22, 1938 to Emil & Wilma (Bothern) Peper in Flandreau, South Dakota. He attended rural schools and was salutatorian of the graduating 1956 class of White High School in White, South Dakota. During his senior year, Dean was champion runner in cross country, mile and half mile. After graduating from high school, he was employed in the construction industry and married Charlene Doughty on August 8, 1956, the couple had five children. Dean also obtained his associate degree from Rapid City SD in business. He was employed as a guard with the South Dakota State Penitentiary before he spent thirty-one years employed as a welder for the oilfields. In 1969 the family moved to Gillette, Wyoming. Dean was a diehard Wyoming Cowboy fan, he also enjoyed bowling and hunting. Dean was known as Bucko to all his grandkids. Riding bikes with his grandchildren was a happy pastime.His greatest passion was for Elvis and the highlight of his life was when he went to Graceland.Dean is survived by his wife, Charlene Peper, his five children, Terry Peper, Jamie (Riki) Peper, Roxanne Green, Shelly (Chuck) Deaton and Niki (Chuck) Hensley all of Gillette, WY; one brother, Jim Peper of Flandreau, SD; three sisters, Darlene (Jim) Mulder of Flandreau, SD; Beverly (Wayne) Taylor of Flandreau, SD; Jo Rice of Madison, SD; eight grandchildren, Melanie (Jason) Ketterling, Adam Green, Ashley (Chad) Eischeild, Derek Hensley, Erin Hensley, Jamie Wilcock, Chamberlin Peper and Hunter Deaton, six great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.He is preceded in death by his parents and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
