Services for Karla Jo Filholm will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1001 East 9th Street Gillette, WY 82716 with the Pastor Jared C. Tucher presiding. A reception will be held following the service. A gathering of family and friends will be from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church.Karla Jo Filholm, 51, Gillette WY, formerly of Sioux Falls SD, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends at Close to Home Hospice in Gillette June 7, 2011 after losing a 15 year battle with multiple sclerosis.Karla was born January 10, 1960 in Sioux Falls SD to Don and Marlene Sinning. She was the second of two children. She graduated from Washington High School in 1978. She went on to work at Luther Manor nursing home for the next eight years.She married Tim Clauson and became a stay-at-home mom after their son Nole was born on August 5, 1987. Tim was killed in a construction accident on September 2, 1987. She married Dale Filholm June 27, 1992 and moved to Gillette soon after. They celebrated the birth of their son Brian on Nov 15, 1994.Karla liked everyone and always had a smile for you. She was a talented woodcarver, painter, and enjoyed doing various craft projects. She loved to hunt, fish, and camp and was active as a leader in both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.She is survived by her husband Dale of Gillette, WY; two sons, Nole Clauson and Brian Filholm of Gillette, WY; parents, Donald and Marlene Sinning of Sioux Falls, SD; brother, Duane and wife Kim Sinning of Loveland, CO; and three nephews.In lieu of flowers, the family request that a memorial donation be made to the Boy Scouts of America.
