Robert Erol Harper

Funeral service for Robert "Bob" Harper will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 10, 2011 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Martin Crump officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Gillette Memorial Chapel.Mr. Harper, age 71, of Gillette, Wyoming died on Monday, June 6, 2011 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital due to a short courageous battle with cancerBob Harper was born on February 2, 1940 in Gillette, Wyoming the son of Robert and Marjorie (Cruzen) Harper. He was raised and educated in Gillette graduating from Campbell County High School in 1958. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Helen White on October 1, 1957. He worked for Peter Kewit for 2 years, was on the Gillette Police Department for 12 years and was a car salesman for many years. In the early 70's Bob and Helen went into partnership with Charlie Olds when they purchased the Gillette Honda Shop and they ran the business together. He was a member of the Gillette Lions Club and held all local and state offices. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and going fishing in the mountains. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Rockpile Museum. Bob will be greatly missed by his family and friends.Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen Harper of Gillette, Wyoming; son, Robert (Pamela) Harper of Hettinger, North Dakota; daughter, Kim Schmidt of Fargo, North Dakota; 2 grandsons: Matthew Harper of Stillwell, Oklahoma and Nick Schmidt of Grand Forks, North Dakota; 2 granddaughters: Jamie (Chad) Larson and Kristyn Schmidt both of Grand Forks, North Dakota; 4 great grandsons: Jimmy Harper and Grover Harper both of Stillwell, Oklahoma, Seth Larson and Reid Larson both of Grand Forks, North Dakota; several nieces and nephews.he was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and sister.Memorials are suggested to Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank, Close To Home Hospice House or Campbell County Senior Center.
