A celebration of LaVerne Junker's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Walker Funeral Home, Gillette, Wyoming with Pastor Dan Holden officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2011 at Walker Funeral Home.LaVerne Junker age 69, peacefully passed away on June 6, 2011 surrounded by her family. LaVerne was born November 12, 1941 at Cannon Ball, North Dakota to Edward and Alice (Big Head) Two Horses.In 1966, LaVerne met the one true love of her life Eugene C. Junker. They married April 21, 1967 at Steele, North Dakota and moved to Gillette, Wyoming that same year.Previous employment included Jiffys, Sands, Families Sub Shop and Pioneer Manor. She also enjoyed visiting customers when helping her husband run flea markets in Gillette and throughout western South Dakota.LaVerne liked getting up really early in the mornings to be the first to arrive for a garage sale. She was an avid collector of angels, she was a Denver Broncos fan, and she enjoyed playing the Sizzling 7's slots machines in Deadwood, SD. However, her greatest passion was spending time with her family especially her grandson, Jonathan. She enjoyed listening to Country, Pow Wow, and Gospel music. Traveling around the country and eight countries in Europe was also one of her favorite things in life. LaVerne was a kind, generous and loving wife and mother, who will be dearly missed. LaVerne never forgot where she came from even though she lived miles away from Standing Rock. She was very proud when she discovered that she was the great, great granddaughter of Pahtanka, a Sioux Chief.LaVerne is survived by her devoted and caring husband of forty-four wonderful years, Eugene C. Junker of Gillette, WY; two daughters, Arliss (Sean) Wilkinson of Gillette, WY; Lana Junker of Colorado Springs, CO; one grandson, Jonathan Zebroski of Jackson, CA; one son, Donovan (Sun) Red Tomahawk of Portland, OR.She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Edward Two Horses, four brothers, Harding Two Horses, Grady Two Horses, Raymond Two Horses, and Carl Two Horses, two sisters, Melda Duncan and Grace Gobert.Memorials and condolences may be sent in LaVerne's name to Walker Funeral Home 410 Medical Arts Court, Gillette, WY.
