Funeral services for Elaine Van Boven will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Gillette Memorial Chapel with Pastor Marty Crump of Family Life Church officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.Mrs. Van Boven, age 64, of Gillette, Wyoming died on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home with her family by her side, after a 5 year battle with Pick's Disease (Frontal Temporal Dementia). She was born Elaine Marrie Hanson on February 9, 1947 in Litchfield, Minnesota the daughter of Leonard and Olla Mae (Reed) Hanson. The majority of her childhood was spent in Upton, Wyoming with her father and step mother Gladys. Elaine then moved to Gillette, Wyoming her sophomore year and graduated from Campbell County High School. Elaine married Bill Barkley on September 5, 1965. The couple had two daughters, Diana and Beth. On July 6, 1984 she married Gerrit Van Boven and together she helped raise his two children, Dion and Gabriel. Elaine was a homemaker and took great pride in caring for her home and family. Her life was centered around her family and friends. Elaine was employed by Monnogramming Plus for 17 years and made a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She had various interests including cooking, sewing and gardening. Many people remember Elaine as being equally beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She had the capacity to see the very best in everyone. Left to cherish her memory along with her husband Gerrit are her children: Diana Houdek of Douglas, Wyoming, Beth (Matt) Burgess and Dion (Justin) Riss all of Gillette, Wyoming and Gabriel Van Boven of Lawrence, Kansas; grandchildren: Travis Nordheim, Alaina Nordheim, Jayden Houdek, Harrison Riss, Amelia Riss, Luke Burgess, Ashlyn Burgess and Dylan Burgess; sisters and brothers: Alice Sindelar, Linda Gaytan, Carol Baysinger, Karen Kopelcheck and James Hanson all of Gillette, Wyoming, Laura Woodard of Enoch, Utah, Lois Caraveo of Moreno Valley, California, Judy Hawes of Hutchinson, Minnesota and Shirley White of Desitin, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, step mother, sisters, Betty Jean Hanson, Estella Ann Hanson and Pauline Sandra LaVallie.
