Funeral service for Rosemary T. Norton will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the Gillette Memorial Chapel with Father Tm Martinson of St. Matthew's Catholic Church officiating. A private cremation service will follow. Visitation will be one hour prior to service on Tuesday. Rosemary Norton, age 79, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2011 at the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Gillette, Wyoming of natural causes.Rosemary Teresa Norton was born on May 30, 1931 the daughter of Bernard and Agnes (Ryan) Kambel in Redfield, South Dakota. She was raised and educated in Hitchcock, South Dakota and graduated from Hitchcock High School. Rosemary spent many happy years on the family farm. After graduation from high school she worked in Huron and then in Rapid City , South Dakota. Rosemary also spent many years in Huron where she raised her children. She had a keen business sense. Rosemary was a bookkeeper for many businesses before starting Video 1 with her son Douglas in Gillette, Wyoming. Rosemary retired from Video 1 to her home in Hartford, S.D. to be close to her daughters. In Hartford, she was the "grandma" to many grandchildren's friends. One of Rosemary's favorite hobbies was bowling. She place in a national bowling competition. She held offices in the Huron Women's Bowling League. Rosemary took great pride in teaching children the techniques of bowling. Rosemary was a great lover of animals, especially her best friends, Matty and Bubbles. She was always taking in a stray animal one of the grandkids would bring home. She was an avid supporter of the Humane Society. Rosemary loved the Christmas season. She would start shopping for her Christmas gifts the week after Christmas. She always put a lot of thought into each gift she gave. Her tradition was the $10.00 she gave her grandchildren every year. Eventually, every Christmas Eve one of the grandkids would tease her about the extra ten dollars they got in their package. Grandma would get so excited before everyone laughed! She was the Minnesota Vikings number one fan. She never missed a game. Rosemary, known as the "Pink Grandma", loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchild. She was blessed with four children: Doug (Beth) Norton of Gillette, Wyoming, Terry (Jenae) Norton of Omaha, Nebraska, Pam (Larry) VanKekerix of Lyons, South Dakota, and Cathy (Lyle) VanKekerix of Hartford, South Dakota. Her pride and joy of her life were her grandkids: Jenni (Johnny) Brown and their four children: Tiffay (Jeremy) Smith and their daughter Kaylee, Steven, Shaylie and Kortni, Stacie (Ryan) Ludwar of Gillette, Wyoming; and their three children: Anthony, Alyvia and Addison, Eric (Leah) Norton of Gillette, Wyoming and their two children: Bridger and Analee, Aaron (Abby) Norton of Gillette, wyoming and their daughter, Zoey, Nathan (Janelle) Norton and baby N of Minden, Nebraska, Joshua Norton of Omaha, Nebraska, Mark Vankekerix of Lyons, South Dakota, Connie (Bob) Nelson and their two children: Logan and Ava of Lennox, South Dakota and, Cory (Erin) VanKekerix of Hartford, South Dakota. Rosemary is also survived by her brother, Terry (LaVonne) Kambel f Battle Lake, Minnesota. She was loved by her many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
