Funeral services for Agnes Mae Cooper will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 15, 2011 at Gillette Memorial Chapel with Father Cliff Jacobson of St Matthew's Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Black Hills National Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday.Ms. Cooper, age 91, of Gillette, Wyoming died on Monday, April 11, 2011 at Close To Home Hospice House of natural causes.Agnes Cooper was born on September 22, 1919 in Agar, South Dakota to Albert and Arlie (Rilling) Gordon. She went to school in the Onida, Pierre and Forest City, South Dakota area. After the 8th grade Agnes moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota and lived with one of her sisters and went to work as a waitress. A few years later she moved to Onida to be closer to the rest of her siblings and parents. One day while roller skating she met Clarence Cooper and they began courting. On April 30, 1942, they were married in Gettysburg, South Dakota. Shortly after their marriage Clarence was inducted into the Army.Agnes later joined him in Alabama where he was stationed. When Clarence was deployed overseas, she returned to Gettysburg. Agnes loved nothing more than being a stay at home mom, cleaning and cooking for her family. she was an excellent cook and loved to bake. Agnes was such a good housekeeper that they replaced more carpet from over vacuuming than anything else.Agnes is survived by her daughter, Sandi (Rich) Gilkey of Gillette, Wyoming; two granddaughters: Lisa (Jeff) Cooper-Torkelson of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Misti Gilkey of Shorewood, Wisconsin; daughter in law, Elaine Cooper of Hutchinson, Minnesota; step granddaughter, Tanya (John) Engfer of Hutchinson, Minnesota; two step great grandchildren: Joseph and Jamie Engfer.She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, son James, parents, and her siblings.Memorials are suggested to benefit the Campbell County Memorial Hospital Hospice House.
