Memorial service for Daryl Smith will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 22, 2011 at Gillette Memorial Chapel, Gillette, WY with Pastor Ernie Bishop of Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Daryl Lee Smith, age 54, of Gillette, Wyoming, entered into heaven Monday April 11, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer.Daryl was born on January 5, 1957 in Julesburg, Colorado the son of Burt and Donna (Reichman) Smith. He was raised and educated in Newcastle, Wyoming. Daryl graduated from Newcastle High School in 1975. He moved to Gillette, Wyoming in the fall of 1975 where he helped open the Foster Lumber Yard. The remainder of his career, Daryl worked at Black Thunder Coal Mine where he was employed for the past 32 years. Daryl enjoyed spending time with his family and friends especially if it involved the outdoors. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, camping and boating.He is survived by his brother Doug (Becky) Smith of Gillette, Wyoming; sisters: Linda (Tom) Martin of Salina, Kansas and Debra (Randy) Caillier of Sugar Hill, Georgia; nephews: James Smith, Cooper Caillier, Trenton Martin, Jon Martin, and Tony Martin; nieces: Lauren Martin, Kaeleigh Martin, Hannah Caillier, Larissa Smith, and Kandace Smith; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents Burt and Donna Smith A memorial has been established in Daryl's name to benefit Sportsman for Fish and Wildlife, proceeds going to the youth fishing and wildlife programs.
