Funeral services for Deral Peak will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Family Life Church with Pastor Martin Crump officiating. The family would like to invite you to ride your motorcycle to the funeral. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 42. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, April 4, 2011 at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Mr. Peak, age 56, of Gillette, Wyoming died on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Chandler Regional Medical Center in Chandler, Arizona from heart complications. Deral Lee Peak was born on February 19, 1955 in Harvey, North Dakota, the son of Richard and Florence (Bohn) Peak. He was raised and educated in Hurdsfield, North Dakota, graduating in 1973, from Hurdsfield High School. He earned the honor of Salutatorian. Upon the completion of his schooling he enlisted in the military, serving in the Army as a Senior Air Repairman working on Cobra and Slicks in the Vietnam conflict. After his honorable discharge Deral worked at the King Ranch in Kingsfield, Texas. He came to Gillette, Wyoming in the mid 1980's when he began a career with Powder River Coal. On August 21, 1992, he married Kim Lott Clark in Gillette. From this marriage, Deral welcomed Kim's three boys as his own and adopted them immediately. The family resided together in Gillette. He was working at Rawhide Mine as a skills trainer at the time of his death. He enjoyed his job and was a hard worker and there would not be a coworker who would disagree. Deral loved riding his Harley. He fulfilled his lifelong dream of riding on the Firebird National Speedway the morning of his passing. Deral was a pilot and enjoyed flying his airplanes. He also enjoyed watching his sons participate in their activities and would travel the countryside to watch every event. Deral is survived by his wife, Kim Peak of Gillette, Wyoming; sons: Daniel Peak and his wife Kasey, Stephen Peak and his fianc, Julie Jordan both of Gillette, Wyoming and Airman First Class David Peak of Luke Air Force Base, Glendale, Arizona; 1 grandson, Gracin Peak; 3 granddaughters: Aryanna Proctor, Halle Osmon and Averie Peak; 2 brothers: Dallas Peak of Sundance, Wyoming and Doug Peak of Seattle, Washington; sister, Denise Firnekas of Harmony, Minnesota; step mother, Joyce Peak of Tioga, North Dakota; niece, Becky Firnekas of Harmony, Minnesota; nephew, Bryce Peak of Fargo, North Dakota; nieces and nephews: LeAnn Ferguson, Nate, Jordan and Chase Cassidy ; 2 step sisters; 1 step brother. He was preceded in death by his parents.
