Funeral services for Evelyn Sams will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Gillette Memorial Chapel with Doug Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, March 28, 2011 at Gillette Memorial Chapel.Evelyn Maxine (Clements) Sams, age 82, died March 23, 2011, at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming, of complications resulting from a stroke.Evelyn was born July 23, 1928, in Maysdorf, Wyoming, South of Gillette, to Otice and Marie (Hackett) Clements. She graduated from Campbell County High School in 1946, and married Calvin Sams on her 18th birthday, July 23, 1946. Evelyn and Cal spent the first years of their marriage on a ranch near Biddle, Montana. They bought their own ranch in 1952, at Rockypoint, Wyoming, where they lived until 2001. They then moved to Gillette where they have enjoyed retirement from ranch life. Evelyn was a kind, generous and loving person. She loved her family very much and looked forward to every visit, especially from her grandchildren. She was an avid gardener and always had a pantry full of the fruits of her labor. Her flower gardens were works of art. She also loved quilting and created many beautiful keepsakes for her family and friends. She was an extremely humble soul who spent most of her life in service to others.Evelyn is survived by her husband, Cal; her sons: Mick (Lesley) Sams, and Norm (Darcy) Sams, both of Rockypoint, Wyoming; grandsons: Thomas (Casey) Sams, and David (Jenn) Sams both of Gillette Wyoming; granddaughters: Felicia, Cassie, Ashley, and Rachel Sams of Rockypoint, Wyoming; brothers: Earl (Vera) Clements of Biddle, Montana, Bud (Janet) Clements and Lester (Sharon) Clements, both of Gillette, Wyoming; sister, Donna Malli, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otice and Marie Clements; and her brother Don (Colleen) Clements. Memorials may be made to either Wyoming Medical Center Foundation or to the Red Cross in Evelyn's name.
