Iris Mildred Elliott passed away Friday, March 18, 2011, at Campbell County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.A private family memorial will follow at a later date. She is survived in death by her husband, Walter Leroy Elliott of Wright; children, Karolann Elliott of Seattle, Wash., Jim (Connie) Elliott of Gillette, Tina (Stanley) Dixon of Newcastle, Mame (Gaylen) Hertel of Gillette, Pattie (Darin) Stoppel of Casper, and Nikki Elliott (Heusein Albdeiri) of Wright; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.Iris was born in Glasgow, Mont., on Dec. 6, 1935, to Ira and Adell (Newton) Small.After moving to California for a short to time, Ira and Iris moved back to Gillette, where Ira married Anna Krause. They lived in a little house behind what is now the Rockpile Museum. She has many memories of playing on the rock pile in her front yard.Iris then married and moved to Worland for many years. In 1978 she and Walt moved back to Campbell County to help on her fathers ranch, the WK, located 25 miles east of present day Wright, where they lived for the past 33 years.Iris learned to cook early in life and it became a life-long passion. She loved cooking for the hunters at her dads hunting camp each year with Alice McCoy. She was also the cook at Little Thunder Inn for many years and Hanks Restaurant in Wright. She was famous for her good food and pastries.She was kind and patient and would do just about anything for someone in need. She always put her familys well being and happiness before her own. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
