Memorial service for Clio Carson will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the Christian Church in Gillette, WY with Pastor Lon Sassman officiating. Visitation will be 12:00-4:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Walker Funeral Home. Upon her request a private cremation service will follow.God took Clio by the hand and she departed this earth on March 14, 2011, in Gillette, Wyoming at the age of 82.Clio Louise Keas was born July 5, 1928 in Stockton, Kansas to parents Chester L. and Laura (Turnbull) Keas. She attended elementary and high school in Stockton with the class of 1946.Clio met Delbert Carson, a widower when he was working in Plainville, Kansas. They were married December 5, 1953 in Great Bend, Kansas. Upon their marriage she became the mother of four children whom she loved like her very own; Delbert Ray, Orville R., Linda Carol, and Diana Gean.Delbert's work in the oil patch found them living in Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas and settling in Gillette Wyoming in 1964. Growing up Clio served as a cook, a waitress and owner of three restaurants, the "Elk Horn", "Black Gold Cafe" and "Hopper's Bar". Clio also owned the" Knit Witchery" a local yarn and knitting shop. Clio enjoyed knitting, needle work, crafts and reading.When Delbert retired they moved to Moorcroft, WY eventually returning to Clio's hometown of Stockton, Kansas, where they resided for four years. Wanting to be closer to their children they returned back to Gillette, WY, which became her final home.Clio was a member of the Main Street Christian Church in Stockton, KS, where she renewed her vows to God. Upon returning to Gillette, she became a member of the Christian Church, where both she and her husband Delbert committed their lives to Christ thru baptism in 2004.. Clio was a current member of the VFW Auxillary Post 8873. Past member of Gillette and Moorcroft Chambers of Commerce, Moose Lodge achieving the highest position of senior regent and receiving her cap and gown in Chicago.Clio is survived by her husband Delbert, and her constant companion, dog Cassie of Gillette, WY; son, Orville (Ronna) Carson of Gillette, WY; daughters, Diana (Joe) Hays of Gillette, WY; and Linda (Bill) Currie of Alaska; sister, Twila (Freeman) Sander of Stockton, KS; nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild as well and numerous nieces and nephews, family members and her many friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Thelma Ross, brothers, Warden and Wilber Keas, and son Delbert Ray Carson.A memorial has been established in Clio's name.
