Funeral services for Richard "Dick" Nelson Petersen will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Tom Frey officiating. Burial will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis, South Dakota. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2011 at Gillette Memorial Chapel.Dick Petersen, age 51 of Gillette, Wyoming died on Sunday, February 27, 2011 of unknown causes.Dick Petersen was born on February 11, 1960 in Deadwood, South Dakota, the son of John and Bonnie (Morris) Petersen. He was raised and educated in Sturgis, South Dakota, graduating from Brown High School in 1978. While growing up he loved and raced motorcycles. Dick married his high school sweetheart, Kalina Rossow in July 1980. To this union two children were born. The couple recently divorced and remained friends. In July 1990, he started Alignment Pros and enjoyed working with his family. Dick took pride in teaching his son, Matt, his trade. Dick's hobbies were camping, fishing, remodeling and Nascar. He enjoyed many outdoor activities with his daughter, Stephanie. Tie Hack Reservoir was Dick's favorite fishing hole. Drag racing his 1968, GMC pickup was his most cherished hobby. Dick was so proud of the newest addition to the family, grandson Bentley. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and his dog Lugnut. Dick is survived by his son, Matt (Elizabeth Miller); daughter, Stephanie (Nicholas Wright); grandson, Bentley Wright, all of Gillette, Wyoming; mother, Bonnie Petersen, Sturgis, South Dakota; a sister, Jan (Darrell) Steffes, Vale, South Dakota; two brothers, Robert, Gillette, Wyoming and David (Rachel), Wasilla, Arkansas; an aunt, Patricia Meyers, Rapid City, South Dakota, an uncle, John Talley, Keystone, South Dakota, and nieces, nephews, and cousins.He was preceded in death by his brother John, February 14, 2008 and his father John, February 5, 2011.Memorials and condolences may be sent in Dick's name in care of Gillette Memorial Chapel, 210 W 5th Street, Gillette, Wyoming, 82716 or condolences via the internet atwww.gillettememorialchapel.comFuneral Home:Gillette Memorial Chapel210 West Fifth Street Gillette, WYUS 82716
