Memorial services for George James Gerlach will be held Monday, February 28, 2011 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints on 1500 Ohara Drive in Gillette. The service will begin at 5 p.m. and conclude at 7 p.m.George James Gerlach was born on August 16th 1988 to Don and Arlene Gerlach in Gillette. He lived his life in Campbell County. In his youth he loved working with his father at his fathers business. He and his family loved animals. He participated in horse 4-H with his favorite horse Old Man. He rode his bike all around town. He played soccer and was fondly named "Wrong Way George". Skiing was a family adventure and winter his favorite season. He spent many stormy winter days smiling while racing down the mountain with his brother, Brian David Gerlach. George then in his teen years began his involvement with the Powder Basin Horse Trails. He took pictures of his father and because of his excellent skill everyone wanted George to take a picture of them and their horses jumping. He used an old fashioned camera you had to wind every time before you took a picture. He also helped maintain and build our local 3 day eventing Cross Country course. George also began to Show Steers and pigs in 4-H. He was a natural at fitting a steer, and recognizing conformation characteristics. He won many awards and often placed high. He even won the overall showmanship award. In high school he enjoyed welding class. He was everyone's friend and often the life of the party.George worked for Thar's Feed, for a local welding company, and out at the Rawhide Mine. He loved operating equipment. He worked at L& P Equipment. Lastly, he worked for Magna Energy Services. He was a workaholic. He always was on time or early. He gave an honest days work and had enjoyment while at his work. Most import he was a great husband, best friend, son, and brother. He married Trisha Faye Wanstrom (Gerlach) on April 16, 2010. George and Trisha spent every day together: Riding the Harley, riding horses, skiing, and contently touching. They held hands every where they went. It wasn't uncommon to see them kissing and cuddling in public. Anyone who knew them knew they had something special. Someone once said "George is the kind of person you would have to try hard not to like." He was the best husband, Loving son and brother, A Hard worker, A great Friend. He was a man who followed Jesus Christ. He left us unexpectedly on February 23, 2011. He will be missed and loved forever by all who knew him.In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in George's name.
