Funeral services for Irene Ratliff will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 11, at Gillette Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ernie Bishop of Church Of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm., Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Irene Ratliff, age 90, of Gillette, Wyoming died due to a stroke on Monday, February 7, 2011, at Close To Home Hospice Hospitality House in Gillette. Freda Irene Ratliff was born in Ethel, Missouri on February 24, 1920, the daughter of John and Grace (Johnson) Davis. She was raised and educated in Ethel Missouri, graduating from Ethel High School. After graduating high school Irene met the love of her life John Ratliff and the two were married on March 20, 1943. The couple would later move to Casper, Wyoming. While living in Casper Irene was very proud of being asked to sew the Wyoming State Flag for Bailey School Supply. After moving from Casper to Gillette, Wyoming, Irene made wife and homemaker her career while also working part-time as a sales clerk for Hesteds Department Store and Anthony Clothing. She was a loyal member of her church and enjoyed volunteering at the Gillette Soup Kitchen. In her spare time she liked to sew, garden, and collect stampsIrene is survived by her daughters, Joyce Ortiz and Janet Dobson both of Gillette, Wyoming; grandchildren:Greg Divis, Samantha Ortiz, Cheryl Pruitt, James Dobson, Angela Reynolds, Patrick Dobson, and also by seven great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and one brother.In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to benefit Close To Home Hospice Hospitality House.
