Robert Dean Chase

Funeral services for Robert Chase will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday January 11, 2011 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Burry Bessee officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm., Monday, January 10, 2011 at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Mr. Chase age 80, of Gillette , Wyoming died on Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Close To Home Hospice Hospitality House of natural causes. Robert Dean Chase was born in Stockton , California on April 19, 1930, the son of Clarence and Mildred (Brumby) Chase. He was raised and educated in Linden , California graduating from Linden High School . Upon his graduation Bob farmed with his grandfather and dad until his grandfather passed away and the he continued to farm with his dad and brother until 1980. Bob married Margaret Booth on December 21, 1959, in Carson City , Nevada . After selling the family farm Bob and Margaret moved to Gillette , Wyoming in 1980. Here he worked as a truck driver, retiring in 1996 due to health. Bob raised homing pigeons and enjoyed racing them and sharing the experience with the children at the church. He was a very handy person and enjoyed making things out of wood. Bob very much enjoyed gardening and taking care of his yard. He was involved in 4-H horse and youth activities. Bob was a 31 year member of the First United Methodist Church in Gillette. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Chase of Gillette, Wyoming; children: Dennis Chase of Sacramento, California, Christina Hill of Stockton, California, Edith (Bob) Bennett of Stockton, California, Donna (Danny) Gwinnup of Rozet, Wyoming, and Jim (Melanie) Chase of Riverton, Wyoming; fourteen grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and brother. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Close To Home Hospice Hospitality House or the First United Methodist Church in Bob's name.
