Funeral services for lifelong Gillette resident, Marquis "Marky" Lynn, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the Walker Funeral Home in Gillette, with family friend Don Dickey officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post # 42. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Monday at the Walker Funeral Home.Mr. Lynn, age 79, died from cancer on the anniversary of his and his wife's engagement, as well as his parent's wedding anniversary, Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at his home.Marquis Lester Lynn was born the son of Ben and Lottie L. (Glassley) Lynn in Gillette. He attended Gillette elementary schools and graduated from Campbell County High School in 1950. Marky served in the National Guard from 1949 to 1960. While attending school in 1945 and 46, Marky worked for the Gillette Ice House owned by John Reed and Wilhelm, a favorite memory of this job was driving the Model A delivery truck. He later began working at the Corner Drug Store for Kelly and Helen Swenson for 4 years. After graduation Marky worked on several different ranches , a seismograph crew and on a water well rig, drilling water wells for area ranches and the City of Gillette. On April 3, 1961, Marky married Freda Seidler Fritzler at the Presbyterian Church in Gillette. Marky started working for the City of Gillette in July of 1956, working in all different departments, the last twenty-eight in the streets department. He retired on December 1, 1994.Marky was a longtime member of the Elks. He enjoyed fishing , hunting, hiking, walking, working with his horses and livestock as well as driving his different ponies on a cart. He also enjoyed traveling South for the winters.He is survived by his wife Freda; son, Marky W. (Deb) Lynn; 2 step-sons: Frank (Melinda) Fritzler and Danny (Judy) Fritzler all of Gillette; brother Ivan Lynn of Fort Collins, CO; 3 granddaughters and 1 great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Irven Lynn.In lieu of flowers Marky says "Send me the money!". In all seriousness that money will be used to benefit the Pilots for Christ program.
